About the Event
For many of us, our family names are clues to our ancestors’ careers, personalities, characteristics, towns of origin or religious practices. Learn why, how and when we received our last names and what they can reveal. “A Rose by Any Other Name” is the first in a series of programs about Jewish surnames presented by the Jewish Genealogy Society of Pittsburgh over the coming months.
This program is possible through the generous support of the William M. Lowenstein Genealogical Research Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation.
REGISTRATION“A Rose by Any Other Name” is a collaboration between the Jewish Genealogy Society of Pittsburgh and the Rauh Jewish Archives at the Heinz History Center. Please register online. The program is free for JGS-Pittsburgh members and $5 for the general public. To become a member of the JGS-Pittsburgh and receive a free membership code, please visit its website at https://www.pghjgs.org/membership.
This virtual program will be recorded. After the program, the recording will be made available to JGS-Pittsburgh members who are current on their dues.
