Volunteers are the backbone of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Pittsburgh. Whether supporting events, assisting with research, helping manage communications, or working behind the scenes with data, your contributions help preserve and share Pittsburgh’s Jewish family histories.

By volunteering, you’re helping others connect with their family stories and strengthening our community — and every role, big or small, makes a difference.
 

How You Can Help

• Event Support - Help run our virtual and hybrid programs, workshops, and members-only help sessions. Your support ensures our events run smoothly and reach everyone who wants to participate.

• Research Assistance - Assist members with navigating local and regional genealogy resources. Share your knowledge and guide researchers through records, archives, and other helpful tools.

• Communications & Social Media - Support our outreach by helping manage announcements, newsletters, and social media channels, keeping members informed and engaged.

• Technology & Website - Help maintain and improve our website, digital archives, or other technology tools to make resources accessible and easy to use.

• Membership & Outreach - Welcome new members, coordinate events, and support outreach initiatives that grow and strengthen our community.

• Data Management / Indexing - Organize, clean, and index records and data to make genealogical resources easier for members and researchers to access.

 

Time Commitment

Even small contributions make a difference! Tasks can range from a few hours a month to longer-term roles — whatever fits your schedule is valuable to us.
