About the Event

This presentation will describe the various resources that are available to help us understand how our family members in the "Old Country" lived their lives before they immigrated to the US.  With a focus on Poland and communities that were once in the Pale of Settlement, we will discuss sources of information about transportation networks, epidemics, pogroms, and industrialization, as well as sources of photographs, using two Jewish families as examples.

Sana Loue has been involved in genealogical research, primarily relating to family in Poland and what was the Pale of Settlement, for approximately 4 or 5 years.  Her book exploring some aspects of this journey was published in 2024 by Springer under the title From Public Policy to Family Dynamics: A Case Study of the Impact of Public Policy on Two 20th Century Jewish Immigrant Families.  In her working life, Sana is a professor in the Department of Bioethics…
