Michael Waas - Muestro Yersusha: Jewish Heritage and Identity in the Ottoman Empire

Sephardic heritage and history can be presented in radically different way in different places. Michael Waas, co-administrator of the Sephardic Diaspora Group on Facebook, has established himself as an expert on the subject. On Sunday, August 29 at 1pm he will discuss three heritage projects in the former Ottoman Empire - Salonika, Greece and Izimir & Tire (Turkey) - ehich have each taken a different approach. Each of these cities have vibrant and active Jewish heritage projects; however their shared history as Ottoman Jewish communities and the fact that they each have ongoing projects is where their similarity ends.
